In a world where illicit drug use, sexual depravity, and trafficking have become the norm, even one of the most affluent, wholesome communities in the Southeast isn’t safe. This spells trouble for Germantown psychiatrist Dr. Joshua Odom as he attempts to guide a troubled academy student to mental well-being.

Lacy Knight discloses a long list of lovers and casual encounters during one of their sessions. That list includes not only fellow students and others her age but also academy staff, parents, and prominent citizens in the idyllic Memphis suburb.

Despite her promiscuity and problems with narcotics, the wealthy young woman is witty and engaging, not to mention drop-dead gorgeous. Eventually, Josh reaches Lacy, and they manage to turn her life around. However, all their achievements are decimated when she turns up missing and is ultimately found dead. Josh is heartbroken in the aftermath. He believes that if he’d only approached things differently with Lacy, her family, and law enforcement, the girl might still be alive. But the absolute truth surrounding her gruesome murder is more shocking than anyone could have imagined.
