About

My name is Charles Savary

I grew up in Coastal Mississippi. My father owned a cottage motel in the sunbelt that served as the canvas for my earliest memories of the 70s and 80s. It was on the beach and sat directly across Highway 90 from an amusement park, but there was a whole lot of other entertainment for a kid, all of it within walking distance. You don’t realize things like this when you’re that young, but I suppose it was about as idyllic as it could be.

I wouldn’t say I was a “bad” student, but I simply couldn’t stay focused. My mind wandered. I was that kid you always see in movies who says, “Huh?” after he’s stirred from a daydream when he’s called on in class or told that it’s his turn to give his report. That carried over into college, where I continued my legacy of fair to middling achievements.

I’ll be exploring my upbringing and what’s brought me to this point more deeply through blogs and subscriber emails, but for now, apart from writing, I like to garden, I enjoy cooking, and I love animals.
